Israel and the Nations

Today's cartoon is called "Israel and the Nations". The strange title was the result of my total immersion in creating the Dry Bones Haggadah ...he traditional guidebook in understanding the relationship between the Children of Israel and "the Nations".The original manuscript of the Dry Bones Haggadah is just about done. We're looking at artist's proof copies checking colors and layout. After that, we'll have the text proof-read. Below are pages 58 and 59, which refer to our continuing difficulties with "the Nations."

I'm hoping to make this the haggadah for our generation. Of course It'll take a lot of Dry Bones fans to help make this happen. We've had a good start, I think, with the Kickstarter beginning.Your thoughts?

Whom do you trust more to handle Iran – Netanyahu or Lapid?

I am not sure whom to trust on the Israeli side of the World, but I know who I would trust more (and believe he has the ear of God!!) when the entire World is considered, between Netanyahu and Obama...and SURPRISE!!!
The answer is Netanyahu!!!

To Michael:
Beating the war drums? Iran is theocratic totalitarian regime. Even if it might be true that most of the Iranian people may not be hostile towards Israel their government is and presents an existential threat to Israel.
Perhaps you should read what Bernard Lewis, a Princeton University scholar of Islam, says:
In this context, the deterrent that worked so well during the Cold War, namely M.A.D. (Mutual Assured Destruction) , would have no meaning. At the End of Time, there will be general destruction anyway. What will matter is the final destination of the dead-- hell for the infidels, and the delights of heaven for the believers. For people with this mindset, M.A.D. is not a constraint; it is an inducement...
Why are Bernard Lewis's views on MAD ignored?

or what Matthias Kuntzel, a German scholar, says:
There are other dictatorships in the world. But only in Iran are the fantasy-worlds of antisemitism and religious mission linked with technological megalomania and the physics of mass destruction. The specific danger presented by the Iranian nuclear option stems from the unique ideological atmosphere surrounding it – a mixture of holy war and high-tec, of antisemitism and weapons-grade uranium, of death-wish and missile research, of Shiite messianism and plutonium

or what Raphael Israeli,a Hebrew University scholar of Islam, says:
According to Shi'ite eschatology, the end of the world will come with the return of the Imam, whose arrival will be announced by violent pangs, unrest, wars, injustice and misery; and all the more, the more imminent his coming. Namely, mad leaders like Ahmadinejad, who are full of hatred and bellicosity, and imbued with messianic zeal and unimpressed by any worldly circumstances or restrictions, might very well, especially when controlling nuclear powers, decide to use them regardless of the costs or the consequences, as long as it will hasten the return of the Imam. For then, even the worst errors made by human leaders would, in their view, be redressed in an instant by the omnipotent Imam in the new post-apocalyptic world.

Michael, unfortunately the corporate government represents its citizens, for good and bad. I do not believe that all Muslims, for example, are anti-Semitic, but there are enough of them that are that we do need to be vigilant.
Maybe Ronald Reagan's saying applies here: "Trust but verify." As I interpret your comment, we should always assume that the Iranians, for example, "have no ill wishes toward Israel," yet it is going to be Ahmadinejad and the ayatollahs who are going to make the actual decision (possibly against the wishes of the "peaceful" Iranian people), and THAT is what we have to guard against. If this is "beating the war drums," so be it!
Bones, incidentally I think we have two Michaels here. I don't think this Michael is to be confused with "Michael who changes his nickname with each post"...
@ Sheldon Dan: the corporate government should serve the interests of its citizens - but in practice it fails to do so. This is true not only for Israel but for most countries in the world. Under such circumstances, the government, plus the banks and other institutions, do not 'represent' but rather betray the people. No Israeli government has ever brought you peace. Why should you blame the Arabs or the Iranians for the continued failure of your own leaders?
To Sheldon DanAt 7:36 PM,
thank you for noticing the difference between the two Michaels. I was getting worried that people might think I'm that other one. Islam teaches that if you die killing a non muslim, you go straight to heaven and get 72 virgins,,,, Mohamud spent too much time sitting in the desert sun smoking hashish and not drinking enough water. He got a lot of things wrong,,,, the worst is that if you MURDER someone, you go to HELL and BECOME a VIRGIN,,,,,,, 72 TIMES............
